Itinerary

You will be picked up in the morning at your accommodation and driven to our base a short distance east of Reykjavík. At the stables, you will learn how to ride a horse, ranging from how to correctly use the reins to how to slow and speed up your steed.

Your friendly and experienced guide will share with you their first-hand knowledge of the unique Icelandic horse breed.

You’ll first ride up a hill on excellent riding trails, along with the picturesque slopes of mountain Reykjafjall through a green forest, a rare sight in Iceland. Following that, you will ride past countless steaming hot-springs in the Gufudalur Valley geothermal area, located just above the town of Hveragerði also known as the “hot spring capital of the world”.

Along these volcanic paths, you can observe sweeping panoramas of green plateaus and even the mighty volcano, Hengill. You’ll have a nice view of Varmá river, known as the “warm river” as geothermal water flows through it, and green valleys with rising steam in the distance.

You will be taking a break at local stables to indulge in some refreshments and snacks learn more about the area. After this short break, you will make a pleasant return journey back to the farm, before boarding the bus heading to Reykjavík.
