This tour offers extraordinary views and great fun. Experience the thrill of riding a snowmobile on Iceland’s second-largest glacier and visit a magical natural ice cave under the glacier!
You will start the tour when your driver guide collect you from your chosen pick up location in Reykjavik. Please be aware that the pickup process can take up to 30 minutes, depending on the traffic and where you are staying.
You will be driven along a highland road, up towards the snowmobile base. There, your snowmobile guide will provide you with overalls, helmet and all the gear necessary for a safe and enjoyable snowmobile tour. You will need to sign a confirmation of liability, and be given a safety brief before the snowmobile tour starts – now you are ready to ride!
The thrilling snowmobile tour will take you across stunning glacier landscapes, on the second-largest glacier in Iceland. Riding across the vast, white snowfield will feel like you are in another world! Some days, you will barely be able to see the difference between the white ice cap, and the white sky above you, and it feels like you are floating in the air.
Before winter comes our glacier guides begin their exciting search for the new Langjökull Ice Cave. All ice caves are really special but some are more special than others! The ice-ceiling above you resembles a brilliant blue river, the ice is so exceptionally translucent, it seems as though you are surrounded by pure blue-hued quartz crystal jewels. The ice around this ‘blue river ‘ is white. It is bearing very unusual subtle gray ‘zebra striping’, formed from the ash layers of various volcanic eruptions.
You get about 15 minutes to explore, enjoy and photograph the cave before it is time to return to base.
After this amazing tour, you will be dropped off at the same place we picked you up.
