When we fly over one of the most active volcanic areas in Iceland, the Hellisheiði plateau, you’ll see moss-covered lava fields stretched out to the horizon, interspersed with colorful basalt mountains, steaming hot springs and the very geothermal power plants that supply Reykjavik it’s renewable energy.
On this sightseeing tour, we make sure to land off the beaten track and away from the crowds to witness the region’s raw energy first-hand. In the landing place of the Hengill geothermal area – named after the Hengill volcano – you can witness upfront the untouched Icelandic nature. We bring you close to hot springs and boiling mud pots, and you might even see some sheep wandering around the valley in the summer. Note that this is not a regular tourist site, there are no safety ropes etc. – it is just how nature created it. Furthermore, no matter the season or time of year, this area always brings magical, colorful, and beautiful views.
On our way back we make a scenic pass over Reykjavik, to give you a unique aerial view of Iceland’s capital.

Norðurflug Helicopter Tours, Reykjavik Domestic Airport (behind Icelandair Hotel Natura). Nauthólsvegur 58d, Building 313, 101 Reykjavik. It is only a 5-minute drive from town. As much as possible be prepared and ready to go.

You can book this tour online using the booking form or just call our office. We typically respond to phone calls from 8:00 AM to 17:00 PM GMT – if you do not reach us, please send an email and we will reply to your message as soon as possible.

All prices are per person. We accept payment by major credit and debit cards with no additional fees. Gratuities are not included.

At all times your safety is our first priority. You can expect any kind of weather in Iceland. For this reason, the tour itinerary may be subject to change or the tour might be canceled due to weather, or other unforeseen circumstances. If the timing changes, we will need your valid mobile phone number to contact you and inform you of the time change. Please don’t forget to fill out your phone number on the booking form. If the tour is canceled, you can choose to receive a full refund or to reschedule your tour for another day. We make every effort to avoid any such changes wherever possible.
In case of bad conditions or a bad forecast, we reserve the right to cancel the tour. We will let you know that the tour has been canceled by email. If the tour is canceled, you can choose to receive a full refund or to reschedule your tour for another day.
What to bring:
Since the weather is unpredictable, always bring comfortable outdoor clothes, warm layers, with waterproof and windproof outer-layers. Jeans are not suitable clothing; a waterproof jacket and shoes and a warm sweater are highly recommended. It’s best to wear boots as it’s pretty cold in the mountains and they can get wet. You or your passenger can wear a small backpack or a camera bag while flying. Bring your personal daily medications if required – please let us know of any allergies or medical conditions that you may require assistance with.

Full payment is required at time of booking to secure your place. We require 24 hrs notice of cancellation for a refund. Any cancellation made within less than 24 hours prior to departure will be fully charged.
