Tour details

Take your glacier exploration to a whole new level with a snowmobile tour on Langjokull glacier and a guided tour into the glacier; the man-made ice cave.

If you are driving your own car you can meet us at base camp, or in Húsafell if your rental car is not equipped for gravel roads (and always opt for this during winter months!) At the base camp at Langjokull glacier you gear up for the snowmobile tour before you head off on the vast snowfield. Admiring the incredible surroundings as you head towards the man-made ice cave situated high on the glacier, where you will enjoy a guided tour 200 meters in and 40 meters under the glacier. You finish the tour by driving back on the snowmobiles to Klaki base camp, giving you another chance to feast your eyes on the Icelandic highlands.

If you do not have a rental car, but would still like to join this activity, you can opt for a full-day tour out of Reykjavik.

You set off from Reykjavik bright and early (07:45), for this amazing day-tour! On the bus, there are GPS sensitive In-bus audio guides, available in 10 languages (it is best to bring your own headphones for this, but you can also buy them on the tour). There is also a host on board, so if the audio guide does not answer all your questions, perhaps the host has the answers you are looking for!

At the offset of the tour, you head out towards Húsafell woodlands, where you will meet up with your glacier transfer. From there, you will begin your ascent to the glacier base, up to the snowmobile base, where you will join in on the activity.

Once you have returned to Húsafell, about 4-5 hours later, you may have time to soak in the thermal swimming pool or relax in the hot tubs, before heading back to Reykjavik.

What should I bring on this tour?

Jeans are not suitable clothing; waterproof jacket and shoes and a warm sweater are recommended. Since the weather is unpredictable, always bring comfortable outdoor clothes, warm layers, with waterproof and windproof outer-layers. Get ready for the action and don’t forget your camera!

If you want to take a dip in the thermal swimming pool or the hot tubs, remember your bathing suit and towel.

Please note

You need to be at least 17 years of age and hold a valid driving license to operate a snowmobile. Age limit for passengers is min. 6 years.

You can expect any kind of weather in Iceland, and all travel to the glacier area may be canceled with short notice due to weather. Your safety is our number one priority! This tour can change depending on weather conditions, so this tour needs to be flexible. We are concerned about your safety.

If you want to go snowmobiling, but are not interested in this tour, there are other options; you might like our Golden Circle & Snowmobile tour or the Snowmobiles & hot springs tour.
