Glacier Truck experience
Your snowmobile adventure starts in Reykjavik where your guide will pick you up at your selected pick up location and whisk you through the beautiful countryside of the south on the way to the Long Glacier (Langjökull). Langjokull is Iceland’s second biggest glacier and it’s often called ‘The White Glacier’ because this is the whitest glacier in the country. Riding in our modified off-road vehicle is an exciting and fun experience in itself.
Our scenic drive will take you through some of the most incredible places that the land of fire and ice has to offer and head to the snowmobile basecamp at the foot of the glacier. At the snowmobile base camp, your guide will get you registered for your snowmobile tour. You don’t need to have any previous snowmobile experience to get the thrill of glacier snowmobiling – just a valid driving license.
Your friendly guide will provide you with all the protective gear that you need for a safe and exciting snowmobile ride. Most of our guests are first-time snowmobilers so you will receive a short and comprehensive instruction on how to ride a snowmobile safely. These snowmobiles are very easy to drive and allow you to pair up with a partner as you taste the special excitement of driving across the glacier. You will learn all you need to know in a few minutes.
After a short practice driving at our base area, we will head out onto the vast untouched glacial wilderness for an hour of exhilarating snowmobile adventure. Depending on the weather and snow conditions, you’ll either be driving across the ice cap at the top of the glacier or through the stunning nearby mountains. Langjokull is a magical place – a white snowy wonderland that is crisscrossed by amazing ice sculptures and stunning icy crevices. The glacier is surrounded by towering volcanoes and mighty mountains. Snowmobiling across this awe-inspiring landscape is an unforgettable experience that you will treasure for the rest of your life.
Midway through the ride, we will make a stop to take photos of the spectacular landscape and enjoy the stunning view. If you are lucky enough to have clear weather, you will have an amazing view of the glacier and the nearby mountains. You will have enough time to enjoy the view and take amazing photos without haste. Feel free to ask your guide to take photos and videos of you and your family or friends – we are happy to oblige. At this place, you will have the opportunity to switch the seats with your partner for the return trip.
After an hour of exhilarating and fun snowmobiling, you will drive back to the snowmobile base.
We will then head back to Reykjavik and drop you at your selected collection point.
