Strapping crampons on your feet and hiking onto the glacier is a truly unique opportunity to discover the hidden treasures of Vatnajokull National Park.

There are two glacier hiking options available;

  1. A shorter and easier 1,5-2 hour glacier walk
  2. An extended 3,5 hour glacier walk which takes you further into the ice field

Make sure to select the correct tab on the booking engine, when you select your tour  🙂

Both Skaftafell glacier walk options take place on Svinafellsjokull glacier tongue, an outlet glacier from Iceland’s largest glacier; Vatnajokull. The scenery and views are stunning, as we walk through a wonderland of ice sculptures, ridges, water cauldrons and deep crevasses. The glacier is framed in by some of the most spectacular peaks Iceland has to offer, as it is located in a deep valley between the highest summit of Iceland, Hvannadalshnukur and the mountain ridge Hrutfjallstindar.

At the onset of the tour, the experienced glacier guide will teach you how to use basic glacier equipment needed for the tour, such as crampons and ice axes.
