Magical Mývatn helicopter tour will take you to majestic sights around lake Mývatn. En route you will see the Golden Circle and the northern highlands of Iceland.

If the skies are clear, we will get a good view of the biggest glacier in Europe, Vatnajokull, before we reach the unique Askja caldera. Next we fly to the glacier river that forms Dettifoss waterfall; there is no better way to see the most powerful waterfall in Europe cascade down the canyons it has eroded.

While heading back west we explore the surreal landscape in Myvatnssveit. It doesn’t matter whether you are a geologist or a 4 year old child, the sights will take your breath away;  the most active volcanic area in Iceland by Krafla, Viti crater, the steaming fumaroles and bubbling mud pools in Namaskard, Hverfjall tephra ring, Dimmuborgir lava formations and the pseudo craters at Skutustadir.

Included in the tour is a packed lunch. Your pilot will choose a scenic location to stop for a picnic.

If you would rather stay closer to Reykjavik and explore the craters of Reykjanes peninsula, or the geothermal heat of the south west corner, these tours are for you:

Duration: 6-8 hours
Operation: All year
Included: a fully guided Mývatn helicopter tour, light packed lunch
Not included: hotel transfer

Good to know before the tour:

Infants under 2 years of age fly for free, unless they occupy a separate seat. If you wish to book a separate seat for your infant, please book it here.
Hotel transfer is not included on the Magical Mývatn tour and you must make your own way to the helipad. We are located at Reykjavik domestic airport; Nauthólsvegur 58D right next to Icelandair Hotel Natura.

This tour is dependent upon good flying conditions, and may be cancelled if conditions are unfavorable. We are concerned about your safety.

Get ready for the adventure and don’t forget your camera!
