Our photography tours are centered around you and what it is that you wish to get out of a photo tour to Iceland.

We will start off with a base itinerary, but are mindful that capturing the perfect image can take time and that sometimes we must deviate from the plan to follow our inspiration. Our expert photographers will create an artistic environment for you, seeking out the ideal location, light or subject for you.

Good to know before the tour:
Jeans are not suitable clothing; water proof jacket and shoes and a warm sweater are recommended

You can expect any kind of weather in Iceland and visit to certain locations might be cancelled with short notice due to weather. Your safety is our number one priority!

 

Final prices of tours are dependent upon availability of accommodation and the size of the group. All prices are subject to change due to sudden currency fluctuations, tax increases or changes in prices beyond the control of Activity Iceland

Our magnificent island has been the inspiration for many Iceland photography tours and travel bloggers throughout the years and no wonder with the stunning scenery and breathtaking landscape.

Seljalandsfoss waterfall

Duration: 9-10 hours
Operation: All year
Pick up time: early morning, depending on daylight hours
Included: Pick up from accommodation in Reykjavík (or near, based on request), full day transfer, professional photography guide (who will teach you how to operate the gear if you need it), drop off at same accommodation.
Not included: camera gear (camera, lenses, tripod etc), meals
Age limit: none

We have a selection of shorter day tours out of Reykjavík (or near); something to suit every wish.

Daytour option 1:

Thjorsardalur valley and waterfalls.
Sights include Haifoss and Granni waterfalls, as well as stunning basalt columns and lush groves.

Daytour option 2:

Reykjanes peninsula.
Sights include Gunnuhver and Krysuvik geothermal sites, old ship wrecks, abandoned homesteads, vast lava deserts and charming fishing villages – only to name a few.

Daytour option 3:

South coast.
Sights include Seljalandsfoss and Gljufrabui waterfalls, black sand beaches and an old plain wreck.

Glacier trips, with the goal of taking stunning pictures of blue ice, vast ice caps and stunning horizons.

Black sand beach

Duration: 5 days / 4 nights
Operation: All year
Pick up time: early morning on day 1, depending on daylight hours
Included: Pick up from accommodation in Reykjavík (or near, based on request), transfer, professional photography guide (who will teach you how to operate the gear if you need it), accommodation (ranging from tents to hotels, depending on your wishes).
Not included: camera gear (camera, lenses, tripod etc), meals
Age limit: none

Day 1:

Departure from Reykjavk early morning (5.00-8.00 am, depending on season). Sights today include black sand beaches, island view over the Atlantic ocean, Seljalandsfoss waterfall, Gigjokull glacier and Thorsmork nature reserve.
Accommodation near Thorsmork (cabin or guesthouse).

Day2:

Early rise! Sights today include Solheimajokull glacier (access to the actual glacier depends on conditions each time), crashed aircraft on a black sand beach, lava fields, waterfalls and charming villages.

Accommodation near Kirkjubaejarklaustur (guesthouse or hotel).

Day 3:

Early rise! Sights today include Fjallsarlon and Jokulsarlon glacier lagoons and the black sandy beaches near them, as well as Skaftafell national park.
Accommodation near Hofn (guesthosue or hotel).

Day 4:

Early rise! Capture the sunrise by Vestrahorn, before heading to Vatnjokull glacier for photo opportunities.
Accommodation near Kirkjubaejarklaustur (guesthouse or hotel).

Day 5:

Today we make our way back along the route we traveled on day 1. This gives us the opportunity to dive deeper into the stunning photo opportunities we did not fully deplete heading out.
Return to Reykjavik around dinner time.

Önundafjörður – Westfjords

Duration: 5 days / 4 nights
Operation: All year
Pick up time: early morning on day 1, depending on daylight hours
Included: Pick up from accommodation in Reykjavík (or near, based on request), transfer, professional photography guide (who will teach you how to operate the gear if you need it), accommodation (ranging from tents to hotels, depending on your wishes).
Not included: camera gear (camera, lenses, tripod etc), meals
Age limit: none

Day 1:

Early departure from Reykjavik, heading straight for Holmavik village.
Sights today include several charming villages, stunning cliffs and valleys. 

Accommodation near Nordurfjordur (guesthouse or hotel).

Day 2:

Early start! We try and capture the breath taking sunrise of the Westfjords, before heading out for the day’s adventure. Sights today include Drangarjokull glacier, vast horizons, narrow fjords and looming mountains. 

It is excellent to rest weary bones at the end of the day, in the geothermal pool in Reykjanes.
Accommodation near Reykjanes or Sudavik (guesthouse or hotel).

Day 3:

Early start! We choose between the scenic area of Hornstrandir nature reserve or travelling further along the Westfjords, exploring charming villages and touching base with the locals.
Accommodation near Isafjordur (guesthouse or hotel).

Day 4:

Early start! Sights today include Dynjandi waterfall, Latrabjarg bird cliffs and Raudisandur beach. These locations are some of the most stunning places the Westfjords have to offer, and capturing the sunset at Raudisandur is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Accommodation near Patreksfjordur (guesthouse or hotel).

Day 5:

Early start! We have a long day ahead of us getting back to Reykjavik, but will make stops along the way in search of stunning final images for our collection.
Return to Reykjavik around dinner time.

Photography photo tours

Duration: 5-6 hours
Operation: mid September – mid April
Pick up time: between 21:00 and 21:30 typically
Included: Pick up from accommodation in Reykjavík (or near, based on request), transfer, professional photography guide (who will teach you how to operate the gear if you need it)
Not included: camera gear (camera, lenses, tripod etc), meals
Age limit: none

The goal is to seek out the northern lights and capture a good shot of the marvelous color display in the sky. Our expert photographer will teach you how best to operate your machine to capture the perfect shot, but you will have full artistic freedom to compose your very own northern lights piece.
