MAGICAL MÝVATN

Magical Mývatn helicopter tour will take you to majestic sights around lake Mývatn. En route you will see the Golden Circle and the northern highlands of Iceland.

If the skies are clear, we will get a good view of the biggest glacier in Europe, Vatnajokull, before we reach the unique Askja caldera. Next we fly to the glacier river that forms Dettifoss waterfall; there is no better way to see the most powerful waterfall in Europe cascade down the canyons it has eroded.

While heading back west we explore the surreal landscape in Myvatnssveit. It doesn’t matter whether you are a geologist or a 4 year old child, the sights will take your breath away;  the most active volcanic area in Iceland by Krafla, Viti crater, the steaming fumaroles and bubbling mud pools in Namaskard, Hverfjall tephra ring, Dimmuborgir lava formations and the pseudo craters at Skutustadir.

Included in the tour is a packed lunch. Your pilot will choose a scenic location to stop for a picnic.

If you would rather stay closer to Reykjavik and explore the craters of Reykjanes peninsula, or the geothermal heat of the south west corner, these tours are for you:

Duration: 6-8 hours
Operation: All year
Included: a fully guided Mývatn helicopter tour, light packed lunch

Good to know before the tour:
