In the fall each year, we start looking for good ice caves for the winter tours. Normally we find several different caves, on the south side of Vatnajokull glacier; some are very stable, but others are less safe or even dangerous to enter, even though they are very beautiful.
Some of the caves are only accessible in below zero conditions, so we will choose each day which ice cave will best suit the tour. This depends on the time of winter, time of day, weather and other conditions at the time.
We always go to the most interesting and stunning ice cave accessible at each time, to give you the most amazing experience available.
Duration of the trip depends on a few things:
Our period of operation can vary according to conditions. Sometimes we can kick of the season early or make it last longer. But sometimes we need to delay the season, or cut it short, due to unfavorable conditions. We will make sure to keep you posted, if this affects your booking in any way!
